About US

Overview
The Elmira City School Districts “Connections” Transition program serves students with disabilities attending high school. Its goal is to help students identify and meet goals for life after high school. Students are offered the opportunity to develop their work skills, better understand community resources, and increase self advocacy. We offer students the opportunity to explore a variety of community and work related experiences to assist them in making an informed decision about their future.

Typical Activities include:
-Work Based Experiences such as Job Shadows and Internships at various job sites
-Youth Development Training to enhance leadership abilities
-Peer and Adult Mentoring to increase support in the schools
-Year round Career and College exploration workshop opportunities
-Life Skills training with the ultimate goal of independence
-Parent Support Group meetings to encourage a better understanding of the Special Education process
